Compliance and Enforcement is a term used often in OHS circles and refers to the government regulatory practices and ability to carry out investigations. They enforce laws in all kinds of areas.
The powers to conduct investigations and inspections is expanded. Requirements are to report back to OHS when an order is received in light of any infraction. A copy of this report is given to the OHS committee and posted at the worksite.
Officers are able to issue a stop-work order to a employer with multiple worksites. If a stop-work order is issued all employees would continue to be paid and receive benefits. Officers are only able to enter privately owned worksites with the owners permission or a court order.
If a stop-use order is issued on any equipment, that equipment can’t be sold, leased or transferred.
