PPE is one of the most basic ways you can be sure you protect your most vital bodily functions. We always want to be aware of hazards to our body. Awareness of the least obvious is often more vital.

We want to protect:

  • the lungs from harmful gases

  • the head and feet from falling heavy objects

  • the eyes from harmful projectiles

  • the skin from corrosive and irritating matter

  • the body especially in conditions of extreme temperature

Every job will require different PPE but here are some basics that can be useful to keep close by.

  • Dust Mask

  • Steel Toe Boots

  • Hard Hat

  • Safety Glasses

  • Gloves

  • Coveralls, Overalls, Uniforms

Remember that PPE is only to be used once all other measures have been taken to ensure a safe environment. If the working conditions demand PPE then you are entitled to the equipment free of charge as a worker. This sometimes won’t include things like steel toe boots.

Using the right equipment is as important as using equipment at all. Make sure everything fits properly and will do its job properly.

All safety PPE should be marked with “CE” to ensure it meets safety regulations.
