A New Global Standard
Our national program for hazardous materials began its transition to the international “Globally Harmonized System” which is standardizing a universal system for chemicals. This system is known as WHMIS 2015.
The deadline for workplace compliance with this new system has now passed as of December 1, 2018.
Update Your Labels and Employee Training
With this deadline comes updated labeling. You can no longer use the standard set in 1988. The other important change is in worker training. Companies were supposed to have introduced and trained their employees in the new WHMIS standard by December 1st and if you haven’t do so be sure to make it happen as soon as possible.
One of our management services at Onsite Safety is setting up the WHMIS program. Don’t hesitate to contact us for assistance.
